  • The coral reef is extremely important to the balance of the seas and oceans. Learn about the vital role coral reefs play in the marine environment and how these ecosystems are currently threatened.

  • AWARE stands for Aquatic World Awareness, Responsibility and Education. The Project AWARE Foundation is a non-profit making organisation dedicated to conserving underwater environments.

  • The PADI AWARE Coral Reef Conservation Specialty course teaches you:-

  • About Project AWARE
  • About the importance of the coral reefs to marine ecosystems and coastal areas
  • About reef inhabitants
  • The status of the world's coral reefs and activities that put reefs in peril
  • How we might help protect reefs

  • How long will it take?

  • Approximately 2 hours split between home study/classroom work

  • This specialty can be taken by anyone, divers, snorkelers and nondivers.
