PADI Distinctive Specialty

  • By taking the Delayed Surface Marker Buoy (DSMB) Course you will learn how to safely deploy a DSMB while under water.

  • You will have the confidence of deploying the DSMB from a hovering position or from the a stationary position on the bottom.

  • The DSMB Specialty course teaches you:-

  • To develop your practical knowledge of a DSMB
  • To dispel some of the myths regarding the use of a DSMB
  • To learn the various methods of deploying a DSMB
  • To increase your dive skills
  • To enable you to plan your dive and where to deploy a DSMB

  • How long will it take?

  • Approximately 12 hours split between home study/classroom work and open water dives.
  • 2 Open Water dives.

  • You must be a PADI Open Water Diver or have an equivalent certification from another diving organisation.

  • DSMB Distinctive Specialty Manual
  • Reel and DSMB
